| Ok, so it's pretty rare that I post something that's actually about me. In fact, it's the kind of thing about which I'd usually say, "I'd never write something like that." But I'm happy. So anyone that reads this has to deal with it.
I'm done with school, part 2! (If you didn't know.. MS, Systems Engineering, secondary concentration in Business/Management--at Virginia Tech...though far from main campus) Tonight was our thesis/capstone project defense, so that pretty much ended it. And our professor took us out for drinks afterwards...and instead of just buying the first round like he had promised, he ended up picking up the whole tab (no matter how much we protested). Pretty cool guy.
Also, The Killers were pretty badass in concert. Way better than expected.

| Florida repeated. But I can deal with that.. because Joakim Noah was still exposed in the title game for the fraud of a player that he is. He can *potentially* be a solid 4th (or more likely 5th)-best player on a team in the NBA, but he's been hyped up as a franchise savior for 2 years now...he would have been drafted in the top 3 last year if he left UF for the pros like he nearly did! The guy is nothing more than a glorified, tall, long hustle-player.. who really likes to thump his chest and scream like an animal nonstop. His free throws are about as ugly as mine.
He'll quickly learn that he can't just be athletic in the NBA (unless he ends up with Nash or Kidd). In that league, you need skills (something he has very few of) in order to be anything better than an average player. I can't wait for his pro debut--assuming he still gets drafted in the lottery (top 14)--after that debacle against an NBA-caliber player (Oden) yesterday.
(don't take this as Florida hate...because what they accomplished was great)

| So my Monday was spent at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. (It's nice to have a job that I can leave on any day...although I will be making up the hours this week.) The 3 1/2-hour drive wasn't too bad--especially when compared to the lines twisting throughout the park. The shortest was 45 minutes, but most were between 1 1/2 and 3 hours! Somehow, we managed to catch the multiple-high-school-field-trip day. Combining all those kids with the closure of nearly 1/2 the rides made for wait-times I haven't experienced since I was at the DMV two years ago. That part of the day was uglier than Josh Howard (including the mouthpiece).
But no matter, because we got to ride Kingda Ka! The world's tallest and fastest roller coaster (128 mph in 3.3 secs, 456 ft; pic below) had some high expectations to live up to, especially after we heard the excitement from every person exiting the ride in front of us. Final judgement? That ride was the most thrilling and intense roller coaster I've been on in a long time--maybe ever. It didn't last too long (about 30 secs)...but amongst the 4 of us, 2 finished the ride with drool dribbling down their faces, 1 had a newly-formed afro, and 1 had a collar that was half-up and half-down (and a very dazed look, haha).
Amazingly, we were only able to board one more ride--Nitro--the rest of the day after arriving at opening (10 am) and leaving at about 5 pm. What's even funnier is that we were all pretty much satisfied with the trip because of the main ride!
I'll leave you with a piece of trivia that you know is gonna show up on JEOPARDY! next week, so be ready: On average, three people per day will soil themselves after riding Kingda Ka

| ok, well i've had this in my AIM profile for a few weeks, so don't do it again or anything if you did already...but it's good idea to toss it in here for people who are bored at work or something ;)
pick 6 of my strengths
and more useful.. pick 6 of my weaknesses
Feel free to be anonymous if you want..though obviously if I'm putting this up, I don't really mind anyone saying whatever they want. It'd be kinda cool to be able to compare what people think now against what people from a few years ago think..maybe use that at least somewhat as a measure of change. | | |
